My Grandfather was orphaned at the age of 18 months, in 1933. Through foster families and boys homes with no birth certificate, photographs or mementos, he always longed to have connections, discover to whom he belonged and find his place in life. Since his death in 1978, our family have continued his search and have since come to know more of his identity than he did.
The Immortal memory is an exploration of the places once inhabited by his birth family, whilst looking at items he left behind and his own journey though life trying to find and create his own identity.
"There were some boy's who weren't baffled when they found a door closed, but determined to find another way in." - Rev. Mr Melrose - Lochvale Boys Home - 1948
